Birmingham City Council has committed to publishing its grant giving data on 360 Giving, which is a national open data platform designed to allow organisations to publically share their grant giving data. There are a couple of reasons and benefits to this, the first being to help people find out what grants have been made in Birmingham, to whom and for what purposes. In publishing its data on 360 Giving, BCC has joined nearly 50 other funders including organisations like the Big Lottery Fund, Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need to help inform a better picture of grant funding in Birmingham and nationally. The second reason and benefit is to help make grantmaking more informed, effective and strategic and through sharing its data Birmingham City Council can help other funders and those interested in grant funding in general make better decisions. Birmingham City Council has committed to publishing its data on 360 Giving at least once a year and that data will also be shared on this webpage. The data currently attached covers the last three financial years 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. The next publication will be made in April 2018 to include grants awarded during 2017-18.
