Origin and destination datasets show the movement of people from one location to another, this is sometimes referred to as flows of people. The data shows flows of people between West Midland local authority districts and local authorities elsewhere in the England, it also includes flows to and from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This is also known as internal migration, as data only refer to movement within the UK. The data also shows the flow of people aged 0-15, 16-24, 25-44, 45-64 and 65 years and over. These data are part of a time series, it should be noted that the method and sources of information used to calculate migration flows were updated 2016-2017. Therefore caution should be exercised when comparing estimates prior to 2016-2017.
